Inflection Point
David Dyjack, DrPH, CIH
In this month's column, Dr. Dyjack explores the idea that environmental health is at an inflection point and is entering a third era. He describes the first two eras of our profession and proposes what he perceives as the third era of environmental health—one that will be anchored in recovery and response to the environment around us. This third era presents a challenge to us and it's up to us to determine how we meet that challenge. Do we employ the usual and customary comfortable work pattern or face directly into the gale of a new brutal truth associated with a rapidly changing environment?
